Foundation funds

Foundation funds

Our Foundation funds provide an easy route into investing, particularly for beginners, with a range of 5 funds where the objectives and risks are clearly defined.

  • Choose funds based on your goals and appetite for risk
  • All are available inside or outside an ISA
  • Easy to apply, invest, monitor and manage your funds

Selecting your fund

Funds invest in a range of asset types, including equities, bonds, property, commodities, cash and 'alternative' investments, such as hedge funds. Each carries a different level of risk.

We've developed our 5 Global Markets funds with this in mind – each one invests a different proportion in each asset type, allowing you to choose how much risk you want to take. The minimum total investment is £3,000, but you can spread this across several products with a minimum investment per fund of £500.

Be prepared to invest for at least 5 years and be willing to take some risk with your money.

5

This fund spreads your investment across each of the asset classes, taking more risk than Global Markets 1 and 2 by increasing the amount that is invested in equities. Global Markets 4

Barclays

Fund Factsheet (Acc) 6

This fund invests predominantly in growth-oriented investments such as equities, whilst maintaining a spread of other asset classes. The fund aims to provide capital growth over the medium to long term and does not provide an income.

Global Markets 5

Barclays

Fund Factsheet (Acc) 6

This fund provides the greatest exposure to the equity markets. It also invests in the other asset classes, but to a lesser degree than the other 4 Global Markets funds. The fund aims to provide capital growth over the medium to long term and does not provide an income.

Remember:
Lower risk is normally linked with lower returns and higher risk tends to offer the potential for greater rewards. But higher risk investments are at greater risk of making a loss.

The value of these investments and any income they produce can go down as well as up, so you could get back less than you invested. Neither capital nor income is guaranteed. Barclays Investments do not provide financial advice. If you’re unsure if an investment is right for you, please seek independent financial advice.
