You can apply for a Barclays Bank Account and then use our new online Features Store to add Features such as Travel Insurance, Mobile Phone Insurance, Text Alerts, Online Statements and much more.

All benefits are subject to terms, conditions, exclusions & limitations. Please read the policy documents to ensure you know what's covered and what's not. Some Features come as part of Packs that carry a monthly fee. 


Worldwide Travel Insurance
Each account holder and his/her domestic partner must be under 70 years of age at the start date of any trip. Pre-existing medical conditions are not covered at any time under this policy unless they have been disclosed to and accepted by our Medical Assessment team. All trips must start and end in the UK and last no longer than 31 days.

Comprehensive RAC Breakdown cover in the UK and Europe
Includes Roadside, Recovery, At Home, Onward Travel and European cover. Account holder must be with the eligible vehicle when you ask for RAC’s help. No cover for commercial vehicles, trailers, caravans or the cost of parts. European cover is only available to vehicles up to 11 years old.

Mobile Phone Insurance
Worldwide cover for your mobile or smartphone against loss, theft, breakdown and accidental damage. Up to 2 handsets covered for joint accounts. Maximum individual retail cost or value of each mobile phone that can be registered for cover is £1,000 including VAT. The policy excess varies depending on the type of mobile phone you are claiming for. Maximum of 2 successful claims per account holder within a 12 month period.

Gadget Cover
Worldwide cover for tablets, laptops, camcorders, cameras, MP3 players and more. Protection for up to £750 in total against theft, breakdown, accidental and malicious damage. Loss is not covered. Cover starts immediately after registration. The policy excess varies depending on the gadget you are claiming for. The excess is £50 if you are claiming for a laptop or tablet and £25 for all other gadgets.

Extended Warranty
An additional one year's cover on new domestic appliances, on top of the standard one-year manufacturers' warranties, for breakdown caused by accidental damage. Appliances are replaced on a new-for-old basis. Registration within 90 days of purchase required.

Card Secure
Provided you have already registered, if any of your cards are lost or stolen anywhere in the world you can make one phone call and your missing cards will be cancelled immediately and replacements ordered. No cover for unauthorised transactions which your card issuer may hold you liable for.

Overdraft information

  • Fee-free overdraft up to £300 1
    Daily overdraft fees are charged on your overdraft balance. If you go over the fee-free amount, you’ll be charged on the whole balance of your arranged overdraft as follows:

    • Over £300 and up to £1,000 – 75p per day
    • Over £1,000 and up to £2,000 – £1.50 per day
    • Over £2,000 – £3 per day

    Representative example: Fee-free overdraft up to £300 (subject to application and status) while you stay within that limit. If you use an overdraft of £1,200, you’ll be charged £1.50 a day when you use it.

Build your own current account

You can now choose what features you would prefer by switching to Barclays Bank Account and using our online Feature store to build your personalised current account.

To switch your account, go into your nearest branch or call us on 03457 345 345.

Cooling off

If you are not happy with your account, you have a 14-day period in which to contact us to cancel your account or switch to another account. This begins on the account opening date or the date you receive your terms and conditions and other account information, whichever is the later.

If you contact us within this time to cancel or switch your account, we’ll refund any account fees you‘ve paid. If you cancel or switch your account later, you won’t be refunded the account fees. To cancel or switch your account, write to Barclays, Leicester LE87 2BB.

Your feedback
