Moving customers into Barclays

Barclays welcomes ING Direct UK customers

Barclays is pleased to announce that it has acquired the savings and mortgage assets of ING Direct UK, following ING Group's strategic review and subsequent decision to withdraw from the UK retail market.

On 20 February 2013, the High Court of England & Wales approved the transfer of the savings and mortgage business of ING Direct UK to Barclays. ING Direct UK is now known as Barclays Direct.

What’s changed?

If you are a former ING Direct UK customer, you will start to see the Barclays Direct logo on letters, statements, envelopes and when you go to do your banking online. In some cases, you will see the ING Direct UK brand retained for a period of time, eg, with Direct Debits.

What hasn’t changed?

If you are a former ING Direct UK customer, the transfer will not affect the way savings or mortgage accounts work, or the quality of service received. You can still access your account online at using your existing log-in details, and you can call us on the usual telephone number below.

We wrote to former ING Direct UK customers in March to welcome them to Barclays and to give them further information about the transfer.
