Logging in to Online Banking
We've given you more log-in options with Online Banking so you can pick the one that suits you best.
Choose the details you use to log in – whether it's your membership number, debit card number or sort code & account number.
If you're a PINsentry user, you can set up your own passcode & memorable word. The next time you log in to Online Banking, go to ‘Account services’ in the top blue navigation bar. Then look for the link under ‘Customise my site’.
You can watch our demo to see how easy it is to log in using your own passcode & memorable word.
Log in with PINsentry
PINsentry provides an extra level of protection for your more security-sensitive transactions, keeping your money safe from fraudsters. And with our new simpler log in, PINsentry users can choose whether to log in using their reader or with a passcode & memorable word of their choosing.

We recommend upgrading to PINsentry as it allows you to carry out the full range of Online Banking services, including setting up payments to someone new for the first time. You can also use it to set up Text Alerts, register for Barclays Pingit, set up a new standing order, open a cash ISA or apply for an overdraft.
To upgrade to PINsentry, select 'Upgrade to PINsentry' from the Account services menu in Online Banking. We'll send you out a card reader that you can use with your existing debit or cash card. If you do not have a debit or cash card then we will send you an authentication card to use with the card reader.
Log in without PINSentry
Now you can use either a PINsentry card reader or set up your own passcode & memorable word to log in. That means you don’t have to carry your card reader around with you all the time. Select ‘account services’ from the top blue navigation bar in Online Banking and then ‘change my passcode & memorable word’ in ‘customise my site’.

A passcode won’t give you access to all of our services, but it will let you:
- See your balances
- Transfer money between your Barclays accounts
- Make payments to people and companies you have paid before through Online Banking
Forgotten log-in details
|
If you’ve forgotten or lost some of your log-in details, there’s help available on step 1 of the log-in process – just look for the options towards the bottom of the log-in page . We can give you an immediate reminder of your membership number if you have your debit card to hand. If you don't have your PINsentry card reader you can either:
You can reset your passcode or memorable word by completing a simple form, but for security reasons we will post a new passcode to you. If you can’t access the service and need to do your banking, visit a branch or call Telephone Banking (if you’re registered) on 0845 755 5555 2. |
