How to use your Online Banking
Online Banking is easy to use and is packed with exciting features to speed up your banking – whether you’re logging in, making payments or navigating around.
Whatever function you use it for, you can be safe in the knowledge that Online Banking is completely secure.
We’ve made it even easier to view your account balances and transactions. At a glance, you will only see 1 balance per account on your homepage – this is the current cleared balance for that account. It is the money that's available for you to use immediately. Remember, though, your balance is updated throughout the day and some transactions you've already made may not appear on your account right away. So please ensure you keep track of your payments separately until they appear. To check whether payments have appeared on your account, select the account you're interested in from your homepage to see a condensed view of its transactions. You can expand each transaction to see more detail. |
Information about Online Banking
Choose how you log in
First, choose how you'd like to identify yourself – with your 12-digit membership number, your debit card, cash card or authentication card number or your sort code & account number. Then save those details so they'll be waiting for you next time*.
Second, if you're a PINsentry user, you can now set a passcode & memorable word so that you can log in without your card reader and check your balance, make payments to existing payees or transfer money between your accounts. Select ‘account services’ from the top blue navigation bar and then ‘change my passcode & memorable word’ in ‘customise my site’.
To protect your accounts, you'll still need to authenticate with PINsentry if you want to pay someone for the first time or set up a new standing order.
*If more than one person saves details on your computer, you'll need to select your details from a list. We recommend you don't save details on a public computer (eg one in an internet cafe).
Viewing your balance
When you log in to Online Banking you'll see a list of your accounts with the current cleared balance – this shows you how much money you have available to spend.
To view your most recent transactions or manage your accounts, select the title of the account you wish to view and this will take you through to your account summary page. If you have registered for Online Statements, the summary page is where you can view, download and print your monthly statement. |

Tailor your homepage
Arrange your homepage the way you want it − by prioritising the modules you use most often and tidying the others away. Just select and hold the dashed rectangle next to the module name and drag & drop to where you want it. You can also remove a module by selecting the grey ‘X’ next to the module name. Select ‘Add more to this page’ in the top blue navigation bar to add modules back onto the homepage. The modules cover the most common tasks in Online Banking, including making a payment or transfer, updating your personal details, and exporting your data. |
Your accounts always sit on the left-hand side of the page and you can move them up and down so that the more important ones appear at the top. Plus you can rename your accounts as they appear in Online Banking to identify them easily at a glance. Select the edit button and then type in the new name for your accounts. And remember to save them.
