Online security video - stay safe online
Our Online Banking service offers you a safe way to manage your money. Nevertheless, online crime is growing and we want you to be well informed of security measures so you can better protect yourself.
This short video will show what Barclays is doing to protect you from online fraud. It will also explain some simple steps you can take to protect yourself online.
More top security tips from Barclays:
Tip 1
Always access Online Banking via www.barclays.co.uk
Never access a link that has been provided in an email and then enter personal details.
Always ensure there is a padlock displayed in the bottom, right-hand corner of the page; this indicates a secure connection.
Tip 2
Keep your passwords and PINs safe
Always be wary of unsolicited emails or calls asking you to disclose any details of current accounts or debit/credit cards. Keep this information secret.
Be wary of disclosing any personal information to someone you don't know. Barclays will never contact you asking for your PIN or password.
Tip 3
Keep hold of your cash
Don't be conned by convincing emails offering you the chance to make some easy money. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
Be especially wary of unsolicited emails from outside the UK.
Tip 4
Keep your PC secure
Use up-to-date security software and a personal firewall and, if your computer uses the Microsoft Windows operating system, keep it updated from the Microsoft website. Be extra careful if using Internet cafes or any PC that is not your own and over which you have no control.
All Online Banking users are eligible for free security software. Take advantage of free security
Tip 5
Check the Barclays website
If in doubt, a good place to get help and guidance is the Barclays Security channel.
Check regularly for specific information and guidance on protecting your PC and yourself online.
Tip 6
Check your statement
Ensure you check your current account statement at regular intervals. If you notice anything irregular contact us immediately.
If you spot a transaction you do not recognise, contact our helpdesk immediately on 0845 600 2323.
Tip 7
Other things to remember
Always learn your password and other security information and destroy the notification letters immediately, never write down or record your PIN or passwords and always take reasonable steps to ensure your PIN and passwords are kept secret at all times.
