Barclays Text Alerts help you keep an eye on your accounts via texts to your mobile phone. You choose the accounts you want to monitor and the information you wish to receive. It’s that simple.

What you can do

  • Build your own personal package from our four different services: weekly balance and mini statement alert, near limit alert, large credit alert and large debit alert
  • Change or cancel at any time
  • Choose the day your weekly balance texts arrive, and receive other alerts the morning after the working day on which the transactions occurred

To keep your messages short, we will use abbreviations and symbols. Each text will be less than 160 characters long, and if you have a large number of alerts we may send more than one message.

 

Fully secure service

Barclays takes a number of security precautions to protect your accounts. We always use a secure service to send Text Alerts and will never send your account details or any personal information via text. However we do recommend you use a PIN on your phone to keep it secure as well.

How to get alerts

Text Alerts are available to Barclays current account customers. You can register for the service in branch, over the phone or in Online Banking (when logged in with your PINsentry).

You'll need a mobile phone registered with a UK network operator. We are unable to send text messages to a fixed-line telephone, a personal computer or a 'virtual' phone number beginning with '07'.

You can suspend or cancel your Text Alerts at any time.

All Text Alerts are free. However, your mobile phone network provider may charge you a fee for receiving SMS messages while you are abroad.

If you're a registered Online Banking customer you're ready to receive Text Alerts. You just need to log in to Online Banking and get set up.
