Your information

These additional conditions which are between you and Barclays Bank Plc (“Barclays”), relate to the use of the SmartSpend energyhelpline website (the “Website”) and supplement the privacy policy which applies to the Barclays account that is connected to the channel you use to access the Website. The privacy policy is available in your account terms and conditions.

These additional conditions have been divided into two sections, for Personal and Business customers. The way in which the service will work and the conditions relating to your use will be different depending on whether you are a Personal customer or a Business customer. Please ensure therefore that you read the section applicable to you.

We can change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes we make to these terms and conditions will be available on Barclays Online Banking before you access the Website. You should save and/or print a copy of these terms and conditions for future reference.

In addition, when you access the Website you will be subject to energyhelpline's terms and conditions , privacy policy and cookies policy . Where there is a conflict between the privacy notice applicable to your account, these additional conditions, and energyhelpline privacy policy, the provisions of energyhelpline's policy will take precedence when you are using the Website.

Barclays will earn commission from any switch you make via the Website.

Personal customers

1. Contacting you

energyhelpline will sometimes need to contact you with information about your energy switching. When energyhelpline contacts you it will use your most recent email address. Barclays will provide the email address we hold for you when you first access the Website, or the email address you provide when you first log into the Website if we don’t already hold one.

energyhelpline may contact you from time to time with marketing messages on behalf of SmartSpend energyhelpline. These marketing messages will only relate to SmartSpend energyhelpline. energyhelpline will contact you electronically, for example by email, text messages or messages on the Website. You will receive a welcome email the first time you use the Website and this will include instructions on how to stop receiving marketing emails from the SmartSpend energyhelpline site.

You may tell energyhelpline at any time if you do not wish to receive marketing messages relating to SmartSpend energyhelpline by contacting energyhelpline as set out in the welcome email you receive from energyhelpline, following the instructions in the FAQs on the Website, or by following any instructions energyhelpline may include in any marketing message it sends to you. For example, any relevant email you receive from energyhelpline will include instructions on how to unsubscribe.

Barclays will send you promotional communications relating to energyhelpline unless you have previously advised us that you do not wish to receive these types of communications.

When you choose to transfer from Barclays Online to the Website for the first time, we will disclose your name, postcode, email address, and whether you are a Personal, Premier and / or Business customer, to energyhelpline to enable energyhelpline to identify the best available tariffs for your area, to enable you to complete the switching process more easily by pre-populating your details on any applicable forms, and to ensure that your experience on the Website is relevant. Each time you subsequently access the Website we will update energyhelpline with your current details. This information is drawn from records that we already hold about you and your account and will not affect any updates you have made to your email address settings within the Website

energyhelpline will also share details with us of the way you use the Website, including the comparisons you view and the energy switches you make, so that we can update your SmartSpend savings profile on Barclays Online Banking and continue to offer you products and services that are relevant.

Business customers

In addition to any call back that you may arrange from energyhelpline to discuss your business’ energy switch, energyhelpline will sometimes need to contact your business with further information about your business’ energy switching. Barclays will provide the email address we hold for your business when you first access the Website, or the email address you provide when you first log into the Website in relation to your Barclays Business Account, if we don’t already hold one.

energyhelpline may contact your business from time to time with marketing messages on behalf of SmartSpend energyhelpline. These marketing messages will only relate to SmartSpend energyhelpline. energyhelpline will contact your business by phone, or electronically, for example by email, text messages or messages on SmartSpend energyhelpline. You will receive a welcome email the first time you use the Website and this will include instructions on how to stop receiving marketing emails from SmartSpend energyhelpline.
