Cardholder Protection

Cardholder Protection covers all your cards, tickets, passports and up to £300 cash if they are lost or stolen while you're away from home, both in the UK and abroad. Cardholder Protection is included at no extra cost for all Premier Life customers.

Choose between annual multi-trip, single trip or extended trip travel insurance with 3 levels of cover. Worldwide travel insurance is included at no extra cost with the Premier Life account, but not with the Premier Current Account.

We offer a foreign currency service and you can have the cash delivered to your door free of delivery charge in the UK. Or you can pick it up at your nearest branch. We also offer traveller's cheques, with free UK delivery. To order foreign currency and travellers cheques, call us on 0845 600 8090 2.

Use your debit cards abroad

Your Barclays Visa debit card is welcomed in millions of supermarkets, shops, restaurants, petrol stations and hotels worldwide – anywhere that displays the Visa sign 3.

Save £1.50 per transaction by using a Barclays ATM or an ATM at a Global Alliance member bank (you will still be charged a 2.99% Non-Sterling Transaction Fee) 3.

3. Barclays will charge you a 2.99% Non-Sterling Transaction Fee for using your debit card abroad when making purchases, withdrawing cash or when you are being refunded. This fee will also apply whenever you do not pay in sterling, for example, when you shop online at a non-UK website.

On top of this, if you’re getting cash over the counter at a bank abroad (including Barclays), or using an ATM other than a Barclays ATM or an ATM at a Global Alliance member bank , you’ll also be charged a £1.50 Non-Sterling Cash Fee and the ATM provider may apply other charges.
