We offer several travel services, including foreign currency at 0% commission, annual or single-trip travel insurance and discounted Lonely Planet guide books.

Premier Life travel features

Your Premier Life account includes several travel benefits.

Premier Current Account

If you'd like to take advantage of the travel benefits with Premier Life, you can switch your existing current account to Premier Life.

Cardholder Protection

Cardholder Protection covers all your cards, tickets, passports and up to £300 cash if they are lost or stolen while you're away from home, both in the UK and abroad. Cardholder Protection is included at no extra cost for all Premier Life customers.

 

 

Travel insurance

Choose between annual multi-trip, single trip or extended trip travel insurance with 3 levels of cover. Worldwide travel insurance is included at no extra cost with the Premier Life account, but not with the Premier Current Account.

 

 

Order foreign currency

We offer a foreign currency service with 0% commission. You can have the cash delivered for free to your door. Or you can pick it up at your nearest branch. We also offer traveller's cheques. To order foreign currency and travellers cheques, call us on 0845 600 8090 2.

 

 

Use your debit cards abroad

If you use your card in cash machines that belong to our Global Alliance, you won't pay any transaction charges 3 4.

Remember to let us know when you're travelling, either through Online Banking or by calling 0800 111 777 2.

3. If you use your debit card abroad, you’ll be charged a 2.99% foreign exchange charge. If you’re getting cash over the counter at a bank (including Barclays) – or using an ATM other than a Barclays ATM or those within the Global Alliance – you’ll be charged 2% of the transaction (minimum charge £1.50, maximum £4.50) and there may be other charges. The 2.99% foreign exchange charge is included in the exchange rate used by the card scheme to convert the currency amount into sterling on the day it processes the transaction. 4. If you use your debit card to purchase foreign currency from a bank or bureau de change, other than Barclays you will be charged 2% of the transaction (minimum charge £1.50, maximum £4.50).
