Corporate Responsibility
In 2003 our Board set an objective to become a leader in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). CSR can be summed up as our wish as a company to have a positive impact on the people who work here, invest in us and in the communities where we operate.
It touches everything we do - it's not an occasional, 'feel good' activity, but a set of principles that underpin how we run the business. Day-to-day, this commitment to CSR is reflected in the community projects we support, the charities we give time and resources to and even the way we look after our staff.
We're extremely proud of the progress we have made so far. In 2004, we won the National Business Award for CSR, and were placed ninth in the top 100 'Companies that Count' by Business in the Community (BiTC). We're also one of the only companies in the UK that gives 1% of our pre-tax profits to charity.
We're committed to building on these achievements in the future.
