Equality & diversity is embedded throughout our business, but it's especially visible in all aspects of HR. We've put a great deal of thought into how we can improve the working lives of people from all backgrounds. The long list of policies and initiatives we have created includes Maternity leave, Childcare, Adoption, Parental leave, Responsibility Breaks, Career Breaks, Paid Career Leave, Religious leave, Counselling Services, Equality and Diversity Policy, Long Service Awards, Job Sharing Policy, Service for Disabled Customers and Transsexual and Gender Reassignment Guidelines.
Our national and regional employee support networks include Spectrum for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender colleagues, Cultural Diversity for employees from ethnic minority backgrounds and Pos+Ability for colleagues with disabilities. We have also established a mentoring scheme that is tailored to the needs of disabled people and to helping them get the most out of their working lives as well as helping non-disabled people better understand their disabled colleagues. Bespoke training courses are also available for colleagues from diverse groups such as senior women, ethnic minorities and employees with disabilities.
We are also at the forefront of workplace initiatives on Age and have been a long standing member of the Employers Forum on Age.
