Barclays
Barclaycard - Elaine Quigley

I first joined Barclaycard on a month-long contract in a role that involved making outbound calls to customers. I quickly saw that Barclays had lots to offer me in terms of a long-term career and was encouraged to apply for a Team Manager position in the sales department. I've since been promoted within the sales team and taken on the role of Recruitment and Support Manager.
My typical day starts at approximately 8.30 when I meet with my team. We get together to discuss the detailed plans for the daily, weekly and monthly projects. Our main focus is on the number of new full-time people the business needs and, if there's a shortfall, how we're going to recruit them.
Working closely with the business is vital and I have regular meetings with our Business Improvement Team, Call Centre Managers, Back Office Operations Team and Commercial Service Team. This way I know exactly what people need and when. I'm also in constant touch with our internal HR teams and with external agencies and media - due to the continuous need to recruit, we are always looking to be creative and innovative with our advertising campaigns.
Recently, I was heavily involved with the launch of our new 'SKYcard' and managed the first team to go live. I was responsible for tracking the quality of the calls and customer service standards, for driving the performance of my team and looking for ways to improve the sales process. To celebrate the successful launch we had an Awards Evening in the theme of the Oscars. I was very proud to receive an Oscar for best supporting actress!
The most rewarding part of the day for me and the team is when we receive our "Candidate Progress Report". This is when we call our successful candidates and offer them a position here at Barclaycard. Giving someone the chance to develop their career with us never fails to give me job satisfaction.
