Barclays
Barclaycard - Fulton Hunter

Before joining Barclays I worked in a real variety of businesses. I actually started out my career with another financial services company, then went to work in road haulage and was also an ambulance technician for several years. However, I always had an interest in the financial services industry and knew it was an area I wanted to return to. With Barclays' superb reputation they seemed the natural choice and I have to say I felt at home right away.
The working environment is relaxed, but professional. We have a great open-plan office, so everyone gets to know each other, especially with all the social events. To encourage everyone to reach their targets and, of course, reward our efforts, there are plenty of incentive schemes. It creates a friendly competitiveness that makes sure everyone's completely focused on improving our customers' experience of calling us.
By far the most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing people I've helped to develop get rewarded for their hard work. As for my proudest moment, well that has to be being selected to represent Barclays on orientation evenings. It was a real privilege to do this and it certainly paid testimony to my achievements.
With regards to the future, I'm currently doing the Management Development Programme which has helped me develop a huge range of skills and will eventually lead to a permanent Team Leader role. I've already been seconded to look after my current team until a full-time manager takes over.
I feel ready to take on more responsibility and am particularly keen to be involved in project work, particularly those that involve change. My managers have been really supportive of this. I've already taken Six Sigma Green Belt training and am part of the team that's looking at how customers make repeat calls - a project which could save the business £1m per year.
