View statement FAQs
If you currently receive your monthly bank statements in the post and would like to receive and store them online, you can switch your settings in Online Banking.
How to switch to Online Statements
Go to your Accounts home page and select the relevant account.
Select the Statements tab and then choose Set statement preferences. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your settings.
You can also change your statement preferences by selecting Account services from the top blue navigation bar, then selecting Manage statements under the Manage your accounts menu. This option will show your statement preferences for all your accounts and which are available for Online Statements.
There is no extra cost for Online Statements.
You can only receive your statements in one format at a time so if you switch to Online Statement you will no longer receive a paper statement in the post.
However, you can receive Online Statements for some of your accounts and paper statements for others.
Braille and large print statements
To receive your statements in Braille or large print format, select Account services from the top navigation bar, then select Manage statements under the Manage your accounts menu. Select the account you want to change and use the Statement type dropdown menu to select either Braille or large print.
How to switch to paper statements
The process is the same if you want to switch back to paper, although it's important that you check that we have the right address for you if you have been receiving Online Statements for more than a few months.
You can check the address on your most recent Online Statement or call Telephone Banking if you’re registered.
You can change your address by visiting your local branch or call Telephone Banking on 08457 5555551 1 (if you’re registered).
Change my address.
How often will I receive my Online Statement?
You will continue to receive your statement at the same frequency as your paper statements, for instance once a month, and on the same date as before, so if your paper statement was issued on the 25th of each month your Online Statement will be too.
Will my Online Statement look the same as my paper statement?
Yes, your Online Statement will look the same as the paper statements you previously received.
Online Statements for joint accounts
If you hold a joint account, one of you can arrange the switch to Online Statements. You should do this in agreement with the other account holder as this will switch off paper statements for you both. If your account has changed from sole to joint, and the new party registers for Online Banking, the new party will only be able to view Online Statements from the date they join the account.
Cheques/credits and supplementary lists
When you register for Online Statements, your returned cheques and credits will no longer be available. If you wish to continue to receive cheques and credits you should not register for Online Statements. If you switch back to paper statements, you will need to request cheques and credits again. If you currently receive supplementary lists you will receive them in electronic format once you have registered.
Storing and viewing old statements
We will begin to store your statements online from the day you switch to Online Statements so you will not be able to view statements from before that date. If you need to order a copy of an old statement, please contact your branch or call Telephone Banking on 0845 7555 555 1 if you’re registered.
Can I use Online Statements as proof of address?
If you need a bank statement as proof of address, please note that some companies may not accept Online Statements. There are a couple of solutions available:
- Ask the company if they will accept a printed Online Statement that has been stamped by one of the cashiers in our branch
- Contact us in branch or by Telephone Banking (if you are registered) on 08457 555555 1 and ask us to post you a printed copy. There may be a small charge for this service.
1. To maintain a quality service, we may monitor and record phone calls. Read our call charges and information at www.barclays.co.uk/callcharges.
