Barclays Cloud It is designed to make your life easier. It’s a secure place to upload, store and manage your important documents.

Whenever you need documents stored with us, it’s simple to find the files you want. It’s part of your Online and Mobile Banking services, so you can access it wherever you log in.

What is a cloud?
A cloud is a place where you can store and access information online – rather than storing it on your computer’s hard drive. To store private and personal information in your cloud, it’s essential to use a trusted company that operates a secure and safe service.

When you use Barclays Cloud It, your information is stored securely with us at all times.

Why should I use Barclays Cloud It?
Peace of mind – your private information is stored securely with us. Use tags to organise and find documents, and no more fumbling around through piles of paperwork.

Add alerts to your documents – such as reminders for your MOT certificate and passport.

Your bank statements are there for you because we upload them automatically. We also upload copies of some letters we send to you by post.

What kinds of documents can I store in Barclays Cloud It?
In addition to statements for your Barclays accounts – which we upload automatically – you can store any document that’s important to you and can be saved digitally:

  • Travel documents – passports, visas, tickets, boarding cards, insurance and hotel reservations
  • Home documents – Mortgage forms, insurance inventories, utility bills, survey and building reports
  • Car documents – MOT certificates, insurance certificates, log books, service records, repair invoices and finance information
  • Family documents – birth certificates, exam certificates and school forms
  • Business documents – annual accounts, quarterly returns, incorporation certificates, licences, business plans and account information

How do I see all my documents in Barclays Cloud It?
To protect your security, you’ll need to log in to Online Banking using PINsentry to see all your documents and use all the features of Barclays Cloud It.

Who can use Barclays Cloud It?
Barclays Cloud It is available exclusively to Barclays customers. You can use it if you log in to Online or Mobile Banking – whether you’re a Personal, Premier or Business customer.

Do I have to pay for Barclays Cloud It?
We don’t charge you to use Barclays Cloud It. However, if you’re using Barclays Mobile Banking, you may be charged by your service provider for internet access on your mobile device, so it may be better to use Wi-Fi whenever you can. Accessing Barclays Cloud It from a mobile device may cost you more – in particular if you attempt to upload or view large documents or files on your mobile or use Barclays Cloud It when abroad.

Can I use Barclays Cloud It on my mobile phone or tablet?
Yes, Barclays Cloud It is available through the Barclays Mobile Banking app.

Can I have more than 1 cloud in Barclays Cloud It?
Yes, if you’re a Business and Personal or a Business and Premier Online Banking member, you can have a cloud for your personal files and another for your business documents.

If you have more than 1 Business Banking account, for separate businesses, you will have a cloud for each business.

You can switch between your clouds when you’re in Barclays Cloud It using tabs, and copy documents between them. If you have separate membership numbers for your Online Banking services (for example, one for Business and another for Personal), you won’t be able to copy documents but you can still have separate cloud services. You can also upload the same document into both clouds.

Documents in different clouds can have the same name.

What documents can I add to Barclays Cloud It in Online Banking?
Barclays Cloud It accepts JPEG, JFIF, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, ODT and RTF documents up to 5MB. We don’t accept video or music files.

Please ensure your documents aren’t password protected, encrypted or compressed.

We’ll scan your documents for viruses and malware during upload and if we find any, we’ll cancel the upload. Please run your files through an anti-virus program before trying again. Please see the terms and conditions for full details of acceptable files.

How do tags work in Barclays Cloud It?
Tags are used to categorise and find your documents in Barclays Cloud It. So the more tags you add to a document, the easier it will be to organise and then find at a later date. For example, you can tag a gas bill with: ‘gas’, ‘bill’, ‘home’, ‘may’, ‘2013’, ‘utilities’ and so on.

You can also edit existing tags. Click on the ‘Tags’ icon in the menu bar to go to the tag management page. Hover over a tag from the tag wall and select the edit icon to rename it or trash icon to delete it. You can also create new tags on this page. The maximum length of a tag is 25 characters.

From the ‘Tags’ page, you can also make tags into shortcuts that sit on your Barclays Cloud It homepage.

How do I manage alerts in Barclays Cloud It?
You can set up alerts on your documents to remind you of payment deadlines, renewal dates for insurance policies and expiry dates of club memberships, for example. You can add up to a maximum of 5 alerts to each file. If you’re already in a document, you add alerts by selecting the alerts icon (a bell) on the document itself or in the ‘Document actions’ area.

You can edit existing alerts and choose whether you want to be alerted by text message or email.

If you can’t activate text or email alerts on a document, it’s because we don’t have those contact details for you. To add new contact details (or to edit your existing details), select the ‘Change contact details’ link within Online Banking.

To see all of your existing alerts, click on the ‘Alerts’ button in the left-hand menu or look for them in your ‘Document stream’.

Why can’t I set up email or text alerts within Barclays Cloud It?
Check the details that we have for you. You can only use text or email alerts with a document if we have these contact details for you in Online or Mobile Banking. To add them or to edit your existing ones, select the ‘Change contact details’ link once you’ve logged in.

How do I review alerts in Barclays Cloud It?
There are several ways to review alerts. To see all of your existing ones listed by date, select the ‘Alerts’ button in the left-hand toolbar of your homepage. Your ‘Document stream’ will also include alerts or you can see them by viewing an individual document.

How do I find a document once I’ve uploaded it to Barclays Cloud It?
There are several ways. You can search for it in your ‘Document stream’. The stream will show all of the documents that you’ve uploaded in chronological order. You can scroll through the stream manually or jump to a particular month using the navigation links on the right-hand side of the stream.

You can also use ‘Find’ – look for the link in the left-hand toolbar. This displays a page with tabs – one for all your documents and another for those without tags. To find your file, click on the tags at the top of the page that describe your document to narrow down the number displayed. These are the tags you added to your file.

What is my ‘Document stream’ in Barclays Cloud It?
Your ‘Document stream’ is an easy way to keep track of all your activity within Barclays Cloud It over time. The stream will show all of the documents you’ve uploaded in chronological order. You can scroll through the stream manually or jump to a particular month using the navigation links on the right-hand side of the stream. You can also see the alerts you’ve set up on your documents and some prompts we’ve set up to remind you of the important documents you can upload to the security of your Barclays cloud.

What if I leave Barclays and have my documents in Barclays Cloud It?
You’ll no longer be able to use Barclays Cloud It if you leave Barclays. If you’re planning to leave, ensure you’ve downloaded all your files first. You can download a document by clicking on the download icon under the ‘Document actions’ header when viewing a document.

No. Third party access is currently not possible with Barclays Cloud It.

What Barclays documents can I get through Barclays Cloud It?
At present, you will receive statements for all of your accounts in Barclays Cloud it. Your Online Statements for your personal accounts will appear in your personal cloud while the statements for your business accounts will appear in your business cloud. If you have multiple businesses with us, you will have a cloud for each business. You can continue to get your statements in the post if you want to or turn these off through the ‘Manage statements’ service online.

How much storage space do I have with Barclays Cloud It?
There is currently no limit to the storage you have within Barclays Cloud It. We may put a limit on storage capacity at some point in the future, as stated in the Barclays Cloud It  terms and conditions

My statements are now in Barclays Cloud It. How do I turn off my paper statements?
To switch off paper statements, log on to Online Banking and select ‘Account services’ from the blue menu bar and then ‘Manage statements’. You'll then be guided through the process. Alternatively, you can call us or visit us in a branch.

Can I send an alert to more than one person in Barclays Cloud It?
No, you can only send an alert to yourself using the contact details that you registered with Online Banking.

I uploaded a Word document to Barclays Cloud It but when I view it I see a PDF.
Don’t worry, we still have your Word document stored. If you download it, you’ll receive it in the same format you uploaded. We use a standard viewer to allow you to easily view your document on screen within Barclays Cloud It.

Can I disable Barclays Cloud It?
No, Barclays Cloud It is an integral part of the Online Banking service and is available to all customers. It cannot be disabled. You can remove the module link to it from your Online Banking homepage by selecting the X in the top right-hand corner of the module.

How do I access Barclays Cloud It from Online Banking?
You can access Barclays Cloud It in 3 ways from Online Banking:

  • Click on the ‘Products’ link in the blue menu at the top of the page. There’s a link to Barclays Cloud It under the ‘Document’ header
  • Find it in the footer menu under the ‘Tools’ header
  • Use the link in the module on your Online Banking homepage. If the module isn’t visible, you can add it by selecting the ’Add more services‘ link

Will I be charged for text alerts sent from Barclays Cloud It?
No, all Barclays Cloud It text alerts are free. However, your service provider may charge you for receiving texts.

Will I receive my Barclays Cloud It text alerts while I’m abroad?
Yes but if you’re travelling abroad, we recommend that you suspend your text alerts as we can't guarantee security over telephone networks outside the UK. You may also be charged by your service provider to receive text alerts abroad. To switch off alerts, either delete the alert on the document or deselect the text message alerts channel before you go away.

How do I upload a document to Barclays Cloud It?
Log in to Online Banking. Then, when you’re in Barclays Cloud It, select the ‘Add’ icon in the menu bar. Browse to find your document on your computer and then enter a document name for your file that you’ll use to identify it within your cloud. The next step is to add as many tags as you can to the document that describe it (eg ‘gas’ ‘utility bill’ ‘direct debit’ ‘may’ ‘2013’ ‘my house bills’ ‘paid’ etc). This will help you organise your documents and ensure you can quickly find it in the future.

How long can I store documents in Barclays Cloud It?
You can store documents with Barclays Cloud It as long as you're a Barclays customer. You’ll no longer be able to use Barclays Cloud It if you leave Barclays or Online Banking. If you’re planning to leave, ensure you’ve downloaded all your files first. You can download a document by clicking on the download icon under the ‘Document actions’ header when viewing a document.
