Your account is changing

Your account will become a Barclays Bank Account or a Higher Education Account with Tech Pack. This means that your account will change along with some of the features you get.

The Tech Pack covers even more devices, including your phone and laptop, worldwide against theft, breakdown or damage. It costs £9.50 a month so there’ll be an increase in the price you pay.

What’s changed

You can still manage your money how you want to – online, on your mobile, over the phone or at your nearest branch. Also, if you’re eligible, you can earn rewards and save money with your account.

To decide what to do next you have 4 options to choose from, please make sure you decide before 13 January 2017.

If you’re happy with the changes:

If you’re comfortable with the insurance cover under the Tech Pack and the price change, your account will become a Barclays Bank Account or a Higher Education Account (with added Tech Pack) on 13 January 2017.

If you have an overdraft, the new fee-free amount will apply. Please refer to your letter for further details on the fee-free amount and the overdraft daily fees that will apply.

If you don’t want to add the Tech Pack:

Let us know before 12 January 2017 if you don’t want to add the Tech Pack. Your account will still become a Barclays Bank Account or a Higher Education Account – with no monthly account fee – but your insurance benefits will end.

If you have an overdraft, and move to a Barclays Bank Account, your limit won’t change. But, your overdraft limit will not be fee free and daily fees will be charged on the whole balance of your arranged overdraft.

You can change your account in 2 ways: call us on 0800 029 42591 or visit a branch. We’ll change your account straightaway. You can keep your benefits until 13 January 2017, and you can wait until then to tell us If you want to remove the Tech Pack after it’s added on 13 January 2017 – you won’t have to pay a monthly fee if you let us know by 25 January 2017.

If the Tech Pack isn’t right for you:

If you no longer want your account:

You can close your account without extra charge (after repaying any outstanding overdraft) – but you need to tell us before 12 January 2017.

What’s not included in the Tech Pack?

RAC Car Breakdown Cover, 24-hour Legal & Tax Helpline and Card Secure are not included.

What isn’t changing?

Your sort code, account number and any Direct Debits or standing orders won’t change. Your overdraft limit, if you have one will also remain the same. If you’ve joined Barclays Blue Rewards, you’ll continue to receive your monthly payments from us.

What will my new monthly fee be?

Your monthly fee will change to £9.50. We’ll take first Tech Pack fee from your account on  1 February 2017.

Do you live outside the UK?

If you’re no longer a resident in the UK, you’re not eligible for many of the insurance benefits our accounts offer. If this applies to you, or you have any questions, call us on 0800 029 42591.

How do I know if Tech Pack is right for me?

It’s important to check from time to time that the cover is still right for you, and that you’re still eligible for the benefits you’re paying for. You can visit our website at any time to see what’s available to you, and what the cover gives you.

Can I change my account today?

Do I have to re-register for the benefits I already have?

No – we’ll automatically transfer your details to Tech Pack. You may want to take the opportunity to review what benefits are available, and make sure you’re fully registered where needed.

Will there be any changes to my overdraft?

If you have an overdraft your overall limit will remain the same, however the new fee-free amount will apply. Please refer to your Letter for further details on the fee-free amount and the overdraft daily fees that will apply.

Will I be covered for Car Breakdown?

Car breakdown cover is not a benefit with the Tech Pack, your cover will no longer be available to you from 13 January 2017. If you are interested in this cover there may be other options available to you. Please call or visit us in any branch to discuss further.
