My card has been captured by a cash machine. What should I do?

For security reasons, all cards – from any bank – that are retained by one of our cash machines will be destroyed. If this happens with your Barclays debit card or Barclaycard, contact us straightaway to cancel your card and order a replacement. For debit cards, you can do this in branch, online, on your mobile or by calling us. For Barclaycard, you can call to order a replacement.

  • Online banking

    If you’re registered for Online Banking, you can report that your debit card's been eaten by logging in and clicking on the ‘Manage accounts’ tab on the top menu. Then select the ‘Lost/Stolen Card’ option in the ‘Card Services’ list. You should receive your replacement card within 2 working days*.

    * Debit cards will be delivered to the address we hold on record for your account in 2 working days, dependent on standard Royal Mail first-class delivery to UK mainland customers. This service does not include credit cards. Requests involving a new PIN will take an extra day.

  • Mobile banking

    If you have the Barclays Mobile Banking app*, you can report your debit card lost by signing into the app and tapping on ‘Account management’ on the home screen or in the side menu and then on ‘Report a card lost or stolen’. You should receive your replacement card within 2 working days**.

    *To help us protect your security, reporting lost and stolen cards will become available 10 days after you complete your registration for Barclays Mobile Banking.

  • By phone

    To report your Barclays debit card lost, call 0345 945 4545*+  (outside the UK, +44 1928 584421*+)1 to cancel your card and order a replacement. You should receive this within 2 working days2.

    To report your Barclaycard card lost, call 0800 151 0900* or 0333 200 9090* (+44 1604 230 230* if calling from abroad) to cancel your card and order a replacement.

  • Branch

    You can report your Barclays debit card lost or stolen at any of our branches. You should receive your replacement card within 2 working days1. In an emergency, you can get instant debit card replacement service in over 250 branches2.

    2 Instant debit card replacement terms and conditions: This service cannot be offered if your account has been open for less than 30 days. It’s available for replacement cards only – not for new customers or new accounts. We can only issue replacement debit cards – not cash cards, credit cards or savings cards. Replacement cards issued in branch will have a new card number. If you have a personalised debit card, we’re not able to print your picture so you’ll receive a standard debit card. You must know your PIN as you’ll be asked to use this once the card has been printed, as a security measure. Replacement debit cards are free. Additional identification or photo ID is required when using the instant replacement service.
