What is Paym?

Paym lets you transfer money using just a mobile number. It's free to use and secure. If the person you’re paying is with a bank or building society that offers Paym, you can pay them using their mobile number instead of their bank details.

You’ll need a UK mobile number to use Paym, and you can only register for it with one bank or building society at a time. When you’re signed up to Paym, people who already use Paym, and who have your mobile number, can see your full name.

If you choose to use Paym, we'll share your full name, mobile number, sort code and account number with the Mobile Payments Service Company, who run Paym for the Payments Council. They’ll store your details in a central database that all the banks and building societies who offer Paym use to process payments.
