Question 2 of 11 about PPI complaints information

How can I check if I have PPI with Barclays?

If you’re not sure whether you have PPI with us, you can use one of our online forms to find out. If you prefer, you can give us a call, check by post or visit your nearest branch. Select your preferred option below for more details.

You can also get touch if you know that you have or had PPI with us, and would like more information about it.

Please note, if we find a PPI policy, it won't automatically log a PPI complaint. See how to make a complaint.

Just so you know

For the products listed below, we need to search a variety of historical records, some of which aren’t available on our systems or are in paper format. If you had any of these, you’ll need to complete the more detailed PPI check request form. We’ll check for PPI on any other Barclays product too, so you only need to complete one form.

  • Barclays Secured Loan
  • Firstplus Secured Loan
  • Littlewoods Cards (also known as LX, Index, Solution Personal Finance or Handbag card)
  • Littlewoods Loan
  • Woolwich Loan
  • Any products relating to a business account

We’ll also need your

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Current address
  • Phone number

In some cases, we may also need your

  • Business details
  • Account information (sort code, account number or card number)

You only need to complete one PPI check request form, regardless of how many products you’re checking.

If you've moved or changed your name

If you bank with us, you can update your name and address in branch, online or over the phone. We recommend you do this before you submit a PPI request to help avoid any delays.

If you no longer bank with us and your details have changed, we may need to verify your identity using information from a credit-reference agency. This search allows us to write to you with the outcome of our PPI investigation – it's only visible to you, and won’t affect your credit rating.

What happens after you’ve requested a PPI check

We’ll check our records to see if you’ve ever had any products that had PPI. We’ll aim to write to you within 6 working days telling you the outcome of the check and next steps. In some cases, this can take up to 15 working days. Please allow time for our letter to reach you via Royal Mail. If you haven’t received anything from us after this time, please send us a new PPI check request.

The letter will outline

  • What products you had/have that included PPI
  • The associated policy and account details
  • Your next steps

Just so you know, the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) can't assist in the outcome of a PPI check.
