The quickest way to switch your rate is through the Barclays app. If you use our online form, it could take up to 30 working days as we’re processing more requests than usual right now.

Switching is easy and means

  • You don’t need to fill in any personal details if you switch in the app2
  • You can switch where and when you like – if you don’t need advice
  • Your new rate will apply as soon as your current rate ends

Switching in the app means we won’t check whether the rate you’ve chosen is suitable for you. And you won’t be able to change the term, type or any other aspect of your mortgage.

If you don’t have the Barclays app, you can find out how to register here. You can also apply online as a guest  – but it’ll take longer to secure your new rate.

Most of our mortgages can be quickly switched using one of the options we’ve listed. For some of our mortgages, we’ll need to have a chat with you before we can switch the rate. Book an appointment if you have one of the following

  • Shared ownership
  • Permission to let
  • More than 180 days left of your existing rate and you have an early repayment charge.

Switch in the app

Secure your rate in the app up to 180 days before your current rate ends.

It only takes about 10 minutes to choose and secure a new rate in our app. Log in, select your mortgage account from the home page and choose ‘Browse and switch your rate'. You won’t have to enter any personal details and there’s no paperwork to complete.

Switching on our website

Use our application form to choose from our rates. We’ll send you all the documents you need to sign, and you’ll need to send them back to secure your rate3.

At the moment, we’re processing more requests than usual, so it’ll take up to 20 working days to get your form and 10 working days to process it.
