How to use Smart Investor for simple dealing.

In this video we'll explore simple order types that you can use to buy or sell investments.
To start dealing with Barclays Smart Investor select the 'Investments' tab at the top of the screen if you are not already in it.
In our first example, we will be buying shares, so select the blue 'Invest' button next to the account you'd like to deal in.
From the 'Find investments' page here select the asset type and then search for your investment.
Within the 'Shares' tab, search for the company you're looking to invest in.
Then select the blue 'Buy' button next to the company you'd like to invest in.
Quote & Deal.
From here, ensure you're on the 'Buy' tab and choose the correct account to buy into.
You'll also see an indicative price for your chosen investment.
If you'd like to deal in a different stock at this stage, you can select the 'Find investments' option.
You'll then be asked to select the order type.
In this example, we will use a 'Quote & Deal'.
For more information, use the 'Orders explained' icon to learn more about different order types.
Remember, this order type is only available when the market is open.
Next, choose whether you'd like to invest a set amount of money, or buy a specific quantity of shares.
Click 'Review' to check the details of the order.
At this stage, you may be asked to confirm a knowledge check if you're investing into a new type of asset.
You may be asked to confirm you've read the relevant information relating to your chosen investment.
If you're happy, select 'Continue'.
With a 'Quote & Deal' order, you'll have 15 seconds to review and accept the quote.
If you're happy to proceed, click 'Confirm'.
You'll now see this confirmation screen.
To view your order, please select 'View portfolio'.
We'll look at this in more detail later in the video.
Remember, you can also use the options at the top of the screen to navigate back to your accounts.
At Best.
If you're dealing outside of market hours, or have been unable to obtain a 'Quote & Deal' quote, you may like to consider an 'At Best' order.
Click on 'Find investments' if you're looking to buy shares, search for the company within the 'Shares' tab, then select the blue 'Buy' button next to your chosen investment.
Make sure you're on the 'Buy' tab and that you choose the correct account to buy into.
Here you'll see an indicative price for your chosen investment.
If you'd prefer to deal in a different stock at this stage, you can select the 'Find investments' option.
Select your 'Order type'.
For more information on order types, use the 'Orders explained' icon.
For an 'At Best' order to buy shares, you won't be able to select a quantity of shares so please enter the amount you'd like to invest.
For an 'At Best' order to sell, you can only select the quantity of shares.
Remember, you also have the option to include fees within this amount.
Click 'Review' to check the order details.
At this stage, you may be asked to confirm a knowledge check if you are investing into a new type of asset.
You may also be asked to confirm you've read the relevant information relating to your chosen investment.
If you're happy, select 'Continue'.
Review your order details and if you're happy, click on 'Confirm'.
You'll then see this confirmation screen.
Select 'View portfolio' to view your pending orders.
Remember, an 'At Best' order is not immediate and may take time to complete.
If you need to navigate back to your accounts, you can also use the options at the top of the screen.
View orders.
From here, please select the 'Orders' tab.
To view your pending orders, select the 'Pending' tab in the middle of the screen.
When your orders execute, your deal will settle within the settlement period for that asset type.
You can then find your order details in the 'History' section and your contract note can be located within 'My Barclays Documents'.
There you are – simple dealing with Smart Investor.
