What is a digital receipt?

A digital receipt is the same as a paper receipt – it’s proof of purchase that you can use to return items. Pay at a participating retailer using your Barclays debit card and you’ll get an itemised receipt delivered to your Barclays app. You won’t need to provide any additional information.

How to turn on digital receipts

You can set up digital receipts in your personal or Premier current account using the Barclays app – if you don’t have the app, register now.

Log in to the Barclays app and select ‘More’ at the bottom of the screen. Then tap ‘Manage accounts’ and switch ‘Digital receipts’ on.

Alternatively, if you’ve recently shopped at a participating retailer, you’ll see a prompt in your transactions list to ‘Activate digital receipts’.

Step 3: Manage

You can share your receipts using the Barclays app. If you need to return an item, you can generate a barcode in the Barclays app to share with the retailer – just tap the receipt and select ‘Return item’. Returning items using a digital receipt is subject to the retailer’s returns policy.

Which retailers offer digital receipts?

Digital receipts are currently only available from participating retailers, but we’re adding new ones all the time. Some retailers don’t offer digital receipts for transactions made online or at certain stores. You can see the retailers that offer digital receipts by tapping ‘Manage accounts’ then ‘Digital receipts’ in your app.
