How to cope through market turmoil

At the end of 2018 we saw volatility return to markets and some sizable single-day moves. For many investors, they may go through a period of seeing little change in the value of their portfolio and then suddenly find that when they’re in choppier markets, in a short time their portfolio might move by quite meaningful amounts of money. How then do you prepare yourself and your portfolios for these inevitable bouts of volatility?

In this video, Dr Peter Brooks, Head of Behavioural Finance, discusses how to cope when your investments are subjected to increased market uncertainty and how while you may not always avoid losses, gaining some perspective and a well-diversified investment should make it easier to ride out the volatility in any one market.
