Since 1 April 2020, landlords can no longer let or continue to let properties covered by the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) Regulations if they have an EPC rating below E, unless they have a valid exemption in place.
All private rented properties in England and Wales must have an EPC rating of E or above unless they have a valid exemption in place, even where there has been no change in tenancy arrangements from 1 April 2023 for non-domestic properties.
