Life insurance cover calculator

Helping you work out how much cover you need

Before you start

It’ll take less than 10 minutes to get a cover amount, which you can then use to get your quick quote. Please consider the following points as you go through the questionnaire.

It’s just a guideline

It’ll give you a rough cover amount to enter into your application as a starting point.

Estimates are fine

Don’t worry if you don’t know the exact figures. For future amounts, just take an educated guess based on your life now.

It’s not set in stone

You can always change the level of cover you have if you need to in future.

It’s all yours

The full lump sum will go to your estate, or you can put it in trust if you’d like to specify who gets it.

Answer a few questions to get your cover amount

We’ll ask you questions about your household’s monthly spending and the value of any assets you have. If you know these or have a rough idea, you can start with a blank questionnaire (‘Personalise it’).

If you’re unsure, choose one of the other profiles below that’s similar to you (don’t worry if it’s not an exact match). We’ve pre-filled these with average amounts to match that profile. You can change the pre-filled amounts if they’re not quite right.

Personalise it

This tool just gives you a starting point, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t have exact figures – a range will do.
