We’re currently unable to take travel money orders
Travelex, which supplies us with foreign currency notes, can’t process any travel money orders at the moment.
So, for now, we can’t take any orders:

  • On barclays.co.uk
  • In our branches
  • Over the phone

When will this be fixed?
We currently don’t know when the issue will be fixed, but we’ll let you know here when we do.

If you have a foreign currency account
You won’t be able to order physical cash until Travelex’s issue is resolved, but you can transfer money in and out as normal via Online Banking, Telephone Banking or in a branch.

If you’re transferring money out of your currency account to a sterling account in the same name, there’ll be no fee, but the relevant currency-to-sterling exchange rate will be applied.

A live FX rate, which changes to reflect the currency market, will apply to the transfer and we’ll let you know what this is when you instruct us to make the transfer.

Euro and US dollar transfers to sterling will be completed the same day if you request it before 2pm. Transfers in other currencies may take up to 48 hours to show on your sterling account.

Where can I buy foreign currency?
Some of our branches may still have some foreign currencies, but only while their stocks last.

If there are other local suppliers available where you are, please use them as an alternative.

Can I still sell back my foreign currency?
Yes, you can still go in to our branches and sell back any unused foreign currency as normal.
