Set limits and choose how your cards work

Our fraud prevention features put you in control of your payment cards. You can instantly update your preferences to suit your needs.

Your cards

In the Barclays Mobile Banking app, you can view all of your cards in one place – and update your preferences, such as your daily cash machine limit, straightaway.

Temporary freeze

If you’re not sure where your card is at the moment, you can use the ‘Temporary freeze’ feature in the Barclays Mobile Banking app. It will stop

  • Cash machine withdrawals
  • Online and in-store payments
  • Apple Pay (if you have it)

It won't stop

  • Direct Debits and standing orders
  • Refunds
  • Subscriptions
  • PINsentry

Freezing your card when you’ve misplaced it means it can’t be used by fraudsters.

If you find your card, you can simply go back to the ‘Temporary freeze’ feature and turn it off. This means you don’t have to cancel your card and wait for a replacement.

If you think your card is lost or stolen, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

Cash machine limit

Everyone has a daily limit of how much they can withdraw from a cash machine, but now it’s possible to increase or decrease yours to suit your needs. Here’s how

  1. Log in to your Barclays Mobile Banking app
  2. Tap on ‘Cards’ under the ‘Quick links’ section
  3. Tap ‘Set daily withdrawal limit cash machine settings’ and set a new withdrawal limit

Once you’ve saved your new limit, it’ll be applied to your card instantly, ready for the next time you visit a cash machine in the UK or abroad.

Remote purchases

You can help to protect yourself from fraud and get more control over your spending by turning ‘Remote purchases’ off in your Barclays Mobile Banking app. This will stop any transactions where your card isn’t present. These include

  • Internet purchases
  • In-app purchases
  • Mail orders
  • Telephone purchases

Recurring payments, such as Direct Debits and subscriptions won’t be affected.
