1. Rules and Definitions
1.1. The “Promoter”, “Barclays”, “we”, “us” and “ours” means Barclays Bank UK PLC.
1.2. “VISA” means Visa Europe Limited.
1.3. “Barclays Employee” for the purposes of this Prize Draw means a full time or part time employee on a permanent or fixed term contract, or anyone undertaking an internship, sub-contracting role, or work placement with one of the following entities or their direct suppliers at the time of the draw:
1.3.1. Clydesdale Financial Services Limited;
1.3.2. Barclays Bank UK PLC;
1.3.3. Barclays Bank PLC;
1.3.4. Barclays Execution Services Limited.
1.4. “Rights Holder” for the purposes of this Prize Draw means The Paris 2024 – International Olympic Committee and Paris Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024.
1.5. “Visa Services” means the Prize Packages, tickets, and other services provided by Visa which may be provided on behalf of Visa by an independent Visa-appointed third-party service provider (“Visa Vendor”).
1.6. “Promotional Period” means one second past midnight GMT on 27 April 2024 until 11.59pm GMT on 25 May 2024.
2. Entry and Eligibility Criteria
2.1. Participation in the Prize Draw is subject to the eligibility criteria set out in Clause 3 of these terms and conditions.
2.2. You are not eligible for the Prize Draw if you are a Barclays Employee or materially connected to the administration of the Prize Draw.
3. Entry
3.1. Entry into the Prize Draw is free.
3.2. The Prize Draw will be open during the Promotional Period. Entries after this time will not be valid.
3.3. To be entered into the Prize Draw you must:
3.3.1. At the point of the draw, be the account holder of a Barclays VISA Business Debit Card.
3.3.2. Have made at least one £50 (fifty British Pounds) or greater purchase transaction on your Barclays VISA Business Debit Card during the Promotional Period.
- Purchase transactions on your Barclays VISA Business Debit Card do not include:
- ATM cash withdrawals;
- All bill payments including direct debits, standing orders and store bill payments;
- Currency or traveller’s cheques;
- Cash-like transactions such as money orders or wire transfers;
- Gaming-related transactions including but not limited to, gambling (including a payment to a merchant we identify as being in the business of gambling, even if not for a bet), betting and buying lottery tickets;
- Barclays interest, fees or charges.
3.3.3. Have the account in good standing (for example you have not exceeded your overdraft limit on your Barclays business current account).
3.3.4. Have up to date contact details on your account to confirm delivery address.
3.3.5. Have received an email from Barclays on 26 April 2024 announcing the Prize Draw.
3.3.6. Be a business established in the United Kingdom
3.4. Subject to you meeting all the above conditions, you will be automatically entered into the Prize Draw.
3.5. One eligible transaction equates to one entry into the Prize Draw. There will be a limit of one entry per business - multiple transactions of £50 or more will not be counted as multiple entries.
3.6. If you have multiple Barclays VISA Business Debit Cards, you will only be entered into the prize draw once.
3.7. The cardholder is entering the prize draw on behalf of the business that the debit card is associated with, and therefore the winner is the business, not the cardholder.
4. The Prize
4.1. There will be 5 winners in total. Each of the ‘Prize Packages’ are comprised of:
Prize Package: 1 Night – 2 People
- 1 night hotel accommodation (3 star) Novotel Les Halles (with breakfast) including any appliable tourist tax for the duration of the stay. This is based on double occupancy and both attendees will be required to share a room.
- Return economy flight with regional departure/arrival times (subject to availability and scheduling) to Paris, or train travel from London to Paris (including luggage - hand luggage and 20kg checked baggage per person, and any associated tax costs).
- Airport/train station transfers to hotel in Paris.
- 2 x tickets for the Swimming on 28 of July 2024 at Paris La Défense Arena.
- Metro Card for transport to/from Olympic Events
- 1 x €100 spending allowance in the form of a Visa prepaid card.
- 1 x VISA gifts/amenities package (worth €350).
- Paris Tourist Pass.
- Visa concierge located at the hotel.
- Visa event support staff.
- Appropriate provisions for specific accessibility requirements.
Note – the following are excluded from all the Prize Packages:
- Any meal, event, and/or activity outside of the scheduled itinerary.
- Translation services
- Airport/Train Station parking
- Guest travel insurance; tourist entry visas and passports
- Hotel incidentals (e.g. phone, mini-bar, laundry, etc.
4.2. The Prize Packages and participation in the Prize Draw cannot be exchanged or transferred.
4.3. Barclays is not liable for delayed or non-delivery of the Prize Packages for any reason beyond its control, including but not limited to, loss or theft in transit or any failure by you to accept delivery of and or collect your Prize Packages for any reason.
4.4. The Prize Draw winners are responsible for their own expense incurred in connection with the Prize (except for those that have already been covered as detailed under the Prize Packages above).
4.5. Upon responding to Barclay’s winning notification email and providing any additional details required for provision of the prize in accordance with clause 19 c) below, the Prize Draw winner acknowledges that usage of the Prize Packages is subject to any associated terms and conditions as communicated by Visa or Barclays from time to time (including entry and COVID-19 requirements) and those stated on the face of any tickets or otherwise incorporated by reference (the “Sponsorship Event Terms”).
4.6. The Promoter shall not be liable or responsible in case a winner fails to use the Prize Packages, for any reason including, but not limited to failure to comply with the Sponsorship Event Terms.
5. Selecting the Winner
5.1. The Prize Draw Winners will be drawn at random by a verifiably random computer process, from all eligible entries. The Promoter will also draw runners up who have a chance to be promoted to winner should a Winner be replaced in accordance with Clause 5.5. The prize draw will be conducted within 10 working days of the end of the Promotional Period.
5.2. Barclays will notify the winners via email to the email address that is held on file for that business by 5pm GMT on 5 June 2024.
5.3. The ‘Winner’ of the Prize Draw will be business entities, and it is the responsibility of the Winner to nominate the beneficiaries of the Prize Packages.
5.4. Beneficiaries of the Prize Packages appointed by the Winner must be: (i) residents of the United Kingdom (ii) aged 18 years old or over at the time of entry (iii) at least one of the beneficiaries of each Prize Package must be an employee of the Winner.
5.5. The Promoter can replace a Winner if:
5.5.1. the same entrant is drawn more than once and/or;
5.5.2. the winning notification email is returned as undeliverable and/or;
5.5.3. the entrant does not respond to the notification forty-eight (48) hours after it has been sent by providing any additional details required for provision of the Prize and/or;
5.5.4. we reasonably believe that the entrant has broken one of these rules.
5.6. Should any Winner be replaced, the first drawn runner up will be promoted to winner and any additional runners up will be drawn at random following the same process.
5.7. With the exception of any Winner who has requested a suppression of their personal information being processed under applicable data protection laws, the name and county of the winners will be made available to anyone sending an email entitled ‘Barclays Olympics Prize Draw 2024 prize draw winner disclosure’ to the following email address businessbankingprizedraws@barclays.com within twenty-eight (28) days of the published closing date.
5.8. Winners of this promotion can request for a suppression of any disclosure of their personal information subject to any requirements to share promotion prize winner’s information with relevant regulators or to fulfil a legal requirement. All winners will be offered this right at the point of the winning notification detailed in Clause 6.4.
5.9. Winners must upload the information of the beneficiaries of the Prize Packages as well as their guest information onto the relevant Guest Registration Site (as notified by Visa) no later than 4 weeks prior to 28 July 2024. Failure by the Winner to upload this information within the timeframes set out in this Clause shall entitle the Promoter to replace said inner.
5.10. The Promoter’s selection of the winners is final. No other correspondence will be entered into.
6. Personal Information
6.1. Barclays will only collect, store and use your personal information, such as name, age and basic contact details including email address, for the purposes of entering you into, administering, and promoting the Prize Draw as set out in these rules, and not for any other purpose without your consent. This will not affect any existing marketing preferences that you have registered with Barclays.
6.2. By entering the Prize Draw, your personal information may be transferred to our service providers and agents (including their sub-contractors) to store and use as necessary to administer the Prize Draw. Barclays will ensure that any third parties processing or storing your personal information for the Prize Draw, shall comply with the same data protection requirements as Barclays and this personal data will only be processed for the purposes of administering this Prize Draw. The winners and the runners up of the Prize Draw consents that their personal information may be transferred to our service providers and agents (including their sub-contractors) to store and use as necessary to publicise the Prize Draw. If required, the winner(s) of the Prize Draw consent to their personal address being transferred to a courier company/postal service for the purpose of delivering the Prize. We will never pass your information to any third party for them to use in their own direct marketing, without your consent.
6.3. Personal information for all entrants will be held on record for as short a period of time as necessary to administer the Promotion and then securely destroyed. Personal information of the winners and runners up will be held on file for a period of up to one year to satisfy regulatory reporting requirements on prize giving activities in different jurisdictions.
6.4. If you wish to opt-out of the Prize Draw please email the following address businessbankingprizedraws@barclays.com stating your request to opt out. If you wish to stop your personal information being used in this way in future, or enact your rights under applicable privacy law, please ‘object to data processing’ in line with our privacy policy. Please be aware that by opting out of your data being used you will be removing yourself from the Prize Draw.
6.5. Personal information supplied during the course of this promotion may be passed on to third parties such as Visa, its associated companies and service providers insofar as required for fulfilment, delivery and arrangement of the prize and shall when provided to Visa shall be processed in accordance with Visa’s privacy policy. https://www.visa.co.uk/legal/privacy-policy.html
7. Liability
7.1. It’s the entrant’s responsibility to judge their fitness in relation to any medical condition(s) which could impact their safe participation in and or use of the Prize.
7.2. To the extent permitted by law, Barclays will not be liable for any loss, damage, injury or disappointment suffered in connection with the Prize Draw (including any damage to your or any other person’s computer or mobile phone equipment as a consequence of downloading or accessing any materials), or any delays or failure (in whole or in part) to perform any of its obligations if such delay or failure is caused by something beyond its reasonable control.
7.3. This Prize Draw is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the third parties referenced in these terms and associated marketing, products or retailers featured in the prizes. Trademarks, logos and names of the third parties, products and retailers are the property of their respective owners.
7.4. Rights Holder and Visa are not responsible for the administration of the promotion. Rights Holder is not liable for anything arising out of this promotion including the fulfilment of any prizes.
7.5. The Prize must be accepted as awarded and is subject to all of the applicable terms and conditions prescribed to such prize. By accepting the Prize, the recipients are deemed to have accepted all the applicable terms and conditions prescribed to such Prize, including any entry and COVID-19 requirements. The Prize is not negotiable, and the recipients may not re-sell or transfer the Prize in any way.
7.6. In the event of the Prize being unavailable the Promoter reserves the right to substitute it for one of equal or greater value. Any substitution will be within the entire discretion of the Promoter. In the event the winner does not accept the substitution they will forfeit their right to the Prize.
7.7. So far as is permitted by law, Rights Holder and Visa and their associated companies and agents exclude responsibility and all liabilities arising from: (i) any postponement, cancellation or material change of the promotion of Sponsorship Event; and (ii) any act or default by a winner or their guest resulting in the winner or their guest being unable to activate the prize and/ or any elements of it.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1. The Prize Draw winner and/or their guest shall not misuse or conduct any unauthorised use of the intellectual property of VISA or the Rights Holders including but not limited to, any trademark, trade name, service mark, slogan or copyright contained in the Prize Package.
8.2. By participating in the promotion, businesses understand that they are not being granted any rights (including advertising, marketing or sponsorship rights) in relation to the Visa or the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (or any associated competitions, matches, teams or athletes) and shall not conduct any related marketing or advertising campaigns, promotions or other activities.
8.3. By participating in this promotion, businesses understand that they are not being granted any rights (including any advertising, marketing or sponsorship rights) in relation to the Rights Holder or the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 (or any associated competitions, matches, teams or athletes) and shall not conduct any related marketing or advertising campaigns, promotions or other activities.
9. General
9.1. Owing to exceptional circumstances outside its reasonable control, the Promoter may choose to withdraw or amend the Prize Draw at any time.
9.2. These rules shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes arising in respect of this Prize Draw.
