Do I have to show my contactless Barclays debit card, Barclaycard or PayTag to a Transport for London (TfL) ticket inspector or member of staff if asked?
Yes, but you don't need to hand the card to them – just touch it on their portable card reader. If you’re unsure about whether or not they really work for TfL , ask for their ID.
If your card shows that you didn't touch in or out for any part of a journey, you could be charged a maximum fare for each part of that journey. You could also get a penalty fare or be prosecuted if you didn't touch in.
The inspector's card reader will attempt to recover any outstanding fare on your card when you touch it.
