Why have I received a PINsentry card reader?
You’ve received this because your account has been upgraded to protect your transactions when you bank online. The PINsentry card reader is used to authenticate your identity by generating a one-off 8-digit code so that you can make use of all our Online Banking services.
If you log in using PINsentry, you’ll be able to do a range of things including:
- Make one-off or continuous payments to someone new
- Update your contact details
- Open a savings account
- Apply for an overdraft
- Make payments and share data through third-party apps or websites
- You can also use it to log in to Online Banking if you can’t remember your passcode.
If you no longer want to use PINsentry, you can still log in to Online Banking without it providing you’ve set up a memorable word and passcode. To do this, log in to Online Banking, go to the drop-down menu under your name, select ‘My details’ and click on the ‘Change passcode and memorable word’ link.
You can also change your log-in preferences so that you’re always asked for your passcode and memorable word when you log in.
You won’t be able to use all of the Online Banking functions without PINsentry.
