How do I cancel a Direct Debit?

You can cancel a Direct Debit in Online Banking, in the Barclays app,1 in Telephone Banking or in one of our branches. You’ll need to let us know before 5.30pm at least one working day before the payment is due to leave your account. For example, if you want to cancel a payment that's due to be made on Wednesday, you’ll need to cancel it by 5.30pm on Monday.

Remember to notify the company you’re paying, so they don’t try to take the payment from your account.

  • Online Banking

Once you’ve logged in to Online Banking, go to the top menu and select ‘Pay and transfer’. Then you’ll find ‘Transfers, standing orders and Direct Debits’ under ‘Manage and track’. You can then view and cancel any Direct Debits you’ve set up.
