What is a banker's draft and how do I get one?
A banker’s draft is like asking a bank to write a cheque for you. But unlike personal cheques, a banker’s draft guarantees payment (terms apply). That’s why some organisations used to ask to be paid this way.
It’s rare for anyone to ask for one now, and there are other ways to pay that are usually cheaper and more convenient.
If you’d still like to use a banker’s draft, you can get one in any branch (but not other Barclays locations) for a £15 fee. You’ll need:
- The name of the payee (because only the payee can use the draft)
- One form of photo ID that we accept.
We’ll sign the draft for you, and the money will leave your account straight away.
