What is power of attorney?
Power of attorney (PoA) is a legal document that gives someone the authority to make decisions about property and finances on someone else’s behalf. There are different types, in Scotland you might have a continuing PoA or combined PoA. In England, you could have a lasting or enduring PoA or a general PoA. Whether you have a Scottish or English PoA, the process for getting third party access is the same.
